It is with a heavy heart that we at HRH Mag share the news of the passing of our dear friend, Phil Campbell, former guitarist of MOTÖRHEAD and patriarch of PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS. Phil left us at the age of 64, following a long and courageous battle that finally took him from us on March 14.

Phil’s family posted a heartfelt message announcing his peaceful departure, stating, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Philip Anthony Campbell. Phil was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, and a proud and loving grandfather, known affectionately as ‘Bampi.’ He was deeply loved and cherished by all who knew him and will be missed immensely. His legacy, music, and the memories he created will live on forever.”
Many of us at HRH had the honor of knowing Phil personally, and he touched our lives with his incredible talent and vibrant spirit. He was not just a remarkable musician; he was a true friend, known for his infectious laughter and kind demeanor. As Mikkey Dee, longtime drummer of MOTÖRHEAD, poignantly said, “He was the funniest guy I have ever known and the best rock guitar player I have ever played with.”
Phil’s journey in music began at the tender age of 10, leading him to remarkable heights with MOTÖRHEAD from 1984 until the band’s end in 2015. His contributions were pivotal to classics like “Orgasmatron” and “1916.” After Lemmy’s passing, Phil continued to inspire with PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS, sharing the stage with his sons and making new memories.
In this incredibly difficult time, we stand with Phil’s family, sending them our love and support. We ask that everyone respects their privacy as they navigate this profound loss. Phil Campbell was not only a colossal figure in the rock world; he was a mentor, a friend, and a beloved member of the family.
Phil’s legacy will forever resonate in our hearts, and his light will never fade. We cherish the laughs, music, and moments we shared with him. Thank you, Phil, for everything. You will be missed, but your spirit will live on in the music and memories we hold dear.
With all our love,
The HRH Mag Family
