Australian punk rock quartet Amyl & The Sniffers made a spectacular return last week, with new single ‘U Should Not Be Doing That’ – their first new music in almost three years. The gleeful, pugnacious track debuted as Jack Saunders’ Hottest Record on Radio 1 and immediately hit the BBC 6 Music A-List.

The band played an explosive headline set at Bearded Theory on Sunday, literally framed in fireworks, before travelling to London for a wild and sweaty show at The Scala last night, which was only announced two weeks ago and sold out in just three minutes.

Amyl and The Sniffers have now announced a full UK/European Tour for this November, tickets are on sale at 10am this Friday, May 31st.

The new single was recorded with Nick Launay (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and is the first new music from the Melbourne, Australia foursome since its 2021 sophomore album “Comfort To Me”. “U Should Not Be Doing That’ sees hints of The Stones’ Miss You, a whiff of Detroit garage grit but Amy’s distinct vocals & the Melbourne group’s charm is at the heart of this new muscular, groove.”

Amy Taylor “U should not be doing that makes me laugh, but It’s also in a way poking fun at the shock that people still feel at a little bit of skimpy clothing, and the bitchy high school way that the music community still is (yes I’m talking to you random 40 year old metalheads sitting around a table doing lines and bitching about a 28 year old chick in a band for wearing shorts and “selling out”) but it mainly makes me laugh. It’s unconscious and meant nothing at the time of writing it but now I think it’s a comedic way of rubbing the dog’s nose in its own dog piss after it wee’d on your favourite rug or something.”
